On Thursday, NPR reported that, despite the federal government having no jurisdiction over school curriculum, Donald Trump plans to “create a commission to promote ‘patriotic education’ and announced the creation of a grant to develop a ‘pro-American curriculum.’”
Trump’s announcement, peppered with unfounded accusations that teaching students about the history of slavery constitutes “toxic propaganda” and “ideological poison,” alarmed many across the nation. NPR reports that “the phrases ‘Trump Youth’ and ‘Hitler Youth’ trended on Twitter, with some likening the president’s new education project to the indoctrination of young people in Nazi Germany.”
We have to sound the alarm bells now. With election day approaching, a recent Rasmussen Reports poll shows that OVER HALF of America’s likely voters still approve of the job Trump is doing as president.
