The Hechinger Report exists to provide you with a vital public service: Independent, deeply researched education reporting that is free and accessible to everyone. Much like your public library, park or school, we don’t charge you to use and enjoy our work. Instead, we rely on the community that benefits from our coverage to keep it running. 

**This Friday is the start of our essential end-of-year fundraising campaign**. Our goal is to persuade at least 175 new readers to support The Hechinger Report and to raise $75,000 to keep our reporters inside classrooms and on campuses.
