John, Election Day is just around the corner -- and we need your help to make sure voters who want to cast their ballot via mail are able to do so, despite efforts to stop them. Why? Because no one should have to choose between risking their health at the polls or forfeiting their right to vote during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the midst of the global pandemic, President Trump and some politicians are attacking our right to vote by mail as part of a blatant effort to disenfranchise everyday Americans. Legislators in states like Oklahoma and Texas refuse to make absentee voting more accessible. These restrictions could pose insurmountable barriers for voters -- especially voters of color. And Trump -- who cast a mail-in ballot in this year’s primary -- has tried to undermine vote-by-mail in every way he can. He has spread widely debunked lies about the reform, threatened state officials who promote vote-by-mail, and even directly targeted the Postal Service, with the help of his appointed Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. Let’s be clear: eligible voters should have a right to cast their ballot by mail. Mail-in voting is a paper-based system that is safe and accessible, it can easily be audited to make sure election results are correct, and it has already been tested and proven secure in states across the country. That’s why our senators must ensure that any voter who wants to vote by mail in November is able to. Sign our petition demanding they take action. We must stand up for our right to vote -- especially in such a consequential election year. I hope you’ll join us in speaking out today. Thanks for all you do, Free Speech For People |
