The climate crisis is no longer in the future; it is here and now. Every candidate and elected official in 2020 must be committed to the Just Recovery measures we need in order to address the compounding impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, climate disasters, and racial injustice.
We need more elected officials to sign our Just Recovery pledge, John. One key way to put pressure on them is through the media – which is why we’re asking you to send a letter to your local newspapers today making the case for why your local candidates and officials should sign the Just Recovery Pledge.
All you need to do is input your address and select the news outlets of your choice. We have a sample letter and talking points that you can use and our system will automatically send the letter to the appropriate place.
If we can get hundreds of letters published in local media outlets across the country, we can put more pressure on candidates running in 2020 to sign the pledge and commit to the policies we need for climate justice.
Hurricane Sally just rammed the Gulf Coast – only weeks after the last hurricane caused devastating storm surges and billions in damages. Meanwhile, millions of acres have burned across the entire west coast.
There is no time to wait. Our candidates must step up and sign this pledge in order to be considered a champion for communities and the climate.
