NBC News: “Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Friday night that he intends to allow for a floor vote in the Senate to confirm a new nominee made by President Donald Trump to replace the Supreme Court vacancy left by Ruth Bader Ginsburg.”

Mitch McConnell and his Republican majority are doing everything they can to push through a Supreme Court nomination despite Justice Ginsburg’s last wish that her seat be filled by the next president -- and the GOP’s own 2016 precedent to not consider SCOTUS nominees during an election year.

McConnell’s hypocrisy has no limits, and the GOP has made it clear they will use their power to promote and institutionalize Trump’s far-right agenda -- even if they have to silence the will of the American people to do it.

If we’re going to protect the future of democracy in this country, then we need leaders who will respect and uphold democratic principles over their political party.

A growing majority of Americans have condemned the Republican Senate’s attempt to fill Justice Ginsburg’s seat before the election, but Trump has said he could have a nominee by this week. We need to make it clear that we will not stand by while Republicans erode our democracy. We are determined to flip the Senate in November and protect the Supreme Court, our most crucial institution.
