Introducing you to the incredible servant leaders running for Congress | Email not displaying correctly? View it in your browser [link removed]

Friends,

When we launched the Second Service Coalition in January, the Washington Post wrote that our movement of servant leaders is becoming “an increasingly robust force in electoral politics.” I’m looking forward to our virtual fundraiser with these incredible leaders tomorrow 9/22, but in the meantime, I’d like to introduce you to three of them.

Read their stories below, and then RSVP to join us tomorrow, Tuesday, from 6:30-8:30PM ET / 3:30-5:30PM PT to help send them to serve again in Congress.

• Sri Kulkarni is running to represent Texas’s 22nd District, rated one of the most likely seats in the country to flip in 2020. Inspired by a calling to serve his country, Sri was commissioned as a United States Foreign Service Officer by Secretary of State Colin Powell. From Jerusalem to Iraq to Russia, Sri served in some of the toughest places in the world, representing the interests of the United States and reducing conflict around the globe. He speaks English, Spanish, Hebrew, Hindi, Russian, and Mandarin Chinese. In Congress, Sri will use his experience to seek common ground, find solutions, and address the needs of every Texan. If elected, he will become the first person of Hindu faith and first Asian American Member of Congress from Texas.

• Josh Hicks has served his country and community his whole life: first in the US Marine Corps, then as a police officer, and now as a trial attorney. As a US Marine, Josh was trained as a radio operator and cryptographic custodian, rising to the rank of Sergeant. After completing two deployments with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, he returned to Kentucky and joined the Maysville Police Department. Working nights and weekends, he was able to go back to school at Morehead State University, and graduated with honors. Josh then enrolled in the University of Kentucky College of Law and worked for several local firms before establishing his own practice. He lives in Lexington, with his wife of 20 years and their two children. Josh is running to represent Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District.

• Betsy Dirksen Londrigan is a Teach for America alum running for Congress in Illinois’ 13th District. She was born and raised in Springfield, IL, where she lives with her husband Tom and their three kids, Jack, William, and Kathryn. She attended Springfield High School and graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has worked as a Corps Member with Teach For America and as a non-profit leader in our community. Following Jack’s illness, Betsy and her family worked to raise awareness of the importance of children’s hospitals as well as significant funds for the Children’s Miracle Network and St. John’s Children’s Hospital to ensure that other children receive the same quality care that saved Jack.

Betsy, Josh, and Sri join an inspiring group of incumbent members and candidates who are revitalizing our democracy. Learn about them at SecondService.us.

Purchase a ticket to our virtual reception with these 16 servant leaders and your contribution will be split between their campaigns.
