Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

As Americans mourn the loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, we remember her extraordinary life. Justice Ginsburg was a trailblazer in the legal profession, rising to become the second female to serve on the nation's highest court and earning a special place in our nation's history. Her commitment to public service will continue to inspire future generations of Americans. I offer my deepest condolences to Justice Ginsburg’s family during this difficult time.

“A” Rating on Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life Scorecard

Our nation is divided on so many issues today, but defending the lives of innocent children should not be one of them. I have long been a champion for life and this rating reflects that. I’m grateful to the Susan B. Anthony List for their tireless work to advance pro-life principles and advocate for those who have no voice.

The scorecard took into account votes, cosponsorships, and letters throughout my tenure in the Senate. More details HERE

White House Signing Ceremony for Israel, Middle East Peace Deal

On Tuesday, I joined President Donald Trump for a ceremony at the White House marking the official signing of the historic peace agreements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

These agreements between Israel, the UAE, and the Kingdom of Bahrain mark a historic step forward toward peace and stability in the Middle East. These diplomatic achievements will expand economic opportunity, security partnerships, and work to counter the world’s leading state sponsor of terror - Iran. The U.S. stands by our friends and allies in Israel and we are glad to see the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain do the same.

Additionally I am leading a Senate resolution praising the historic agreements between Israel, the UAE, and the Kingdom of Bahrain along with Senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), and Ben Cardin (D-Md.).

The Far-Left’s Dangerous Ideas and Unfulfillable Promises

Last week, I spoke on the Senate floor and during the weekly Senate GOP press conference about the far-left’s divisive use of political power during a time of great need for America.

While leaders in the National Democratic Party continue to filibuster coronavirus relief, they have also empowered the radical wing of their party. The violence the radicals have unleashed threatens lives, the cancel culture they have imposed curtails liberty, and their misguided means of creating economic equality endanger the pursuit of happiness.

Republicans on the other hand will play a part in the reinvigoration of economically disadvantaged areas, both rural and urban. Ours is an America where everyone lives free of fear, and speaks their mind. And where citizens, no matter their color or their zip code, can climb as high and fly as far as ambition and ability allows.

Facilitating Commerce in the Great Lakes

In recent years, commerce on the Great Lakes has suffered due to a lack of icebreaking during cold weather months. Roughly 28 percent of our nation’s annual economic output comes from the Great Lakes region, and the Great Lakes Winter Commerce Act will enable us to expand capacity to ship goods, create jobs, and strengthen the economy in Indiana and other Great Lake states by codifying the U.S. Coast Guard’s icebreaking mission. Bill to Improve Treatment for Dialysis Patients

Last week, I introduced the Bringing Enhanced Treatments and Therapies to ESRD Recipients (BETTER) Kidney Care Act to provide a new care option for dialysis patients.

The BETTER Kidney Care Act would create a Medicare Integrated Care Demonstration to deliver high-quality, integrated, and coordinated care to end-stage renal disease (ESRD)  beneficiaries receiving dialysis and those that transition to transplant or hospice care. This practical approach to care delivery would significantly improve health outcomes, reduce hospitalizations and readmissions, increase quality of life for ESRD patients, and save taxpayer dollars.

Helping Hoosiers with end-stage renal disease receive improved care will result in better health outcomes and will help save lives. The BETTER Kidney Care Act is a smart approach to enhancing patients’ quality of life while also saving taxpayer dollars.

My Bipartisan Small Manufacturer Cybersecurity Enhancement Act

America’s critical defense industrial base is under a constant cyber threat from our adversaries, and the burden of defending against these threats is heaviest on small businesses. I introduced the Small Manufacturer Cybersecurity Enhancement Act to enable Indiana businesses in the defense supply chain, which employ tens of thousands of Hoosiers, to meet needed cybersecurity requirements. This bill will also help lower barriers of entry for aspiring leaders from across the state and allow the Manufacturing Extension Partnership to build upon the valuable work it is already doing to bring more small businesses into compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.

My E-Sign Modernization Act Clears Key Senate Hurdle

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, it’s time we help more people easily access their bank information from a computer or other electronic device. I’m encouraged by last week’s passage of my E-SIGN Modernization Act in the Commerce Committee as we work to get this bill over the finish line so that Americans can access critical documents and bank statements electronically.

The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN) currently requires consumers to reasonably demonstrate that they can access documents electronically before they can receive an electronic version, which is an outdated requirement that is no longer necessary given advancements in technology. The E-SIGN Modernization Act would remove this requirement, so once a consumer is provided with disclosure information and consents to receiving documents electronically, he or she can obtain them through those means.
