Dear John,
The passing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has left America’s highest court with a significant vacancy—and it is crucial that we move forward swiftly with confirming a new justice.
President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have announced their intention to fill this seat, consistent with historical precedent when our nation has a President and a Senate of the same party in power.
We fully support their decision to move forward without delay, especially in this time of crisis gripping our nation. There may well be crucial cases in the next few months on the elections or even religious freedom during this pandemic, and we need a fully operating Supreme Court to uphold the rule of law.
The most important task incumbent upon us now is to ensure that the president’s nominee is a strong constitutionalist with a proven record of defending religious liberty.
First Liberty has been at the forefront in this defining moment, advising the White House and the Senate with extensive research and analysis on all the top names being considered to make sure they have the best data available in order to make the best choice possible.
Watch below to get the latest on how we are leading the fight in this process:
There are several excellent choices which First Liberty can confidently give our stamp of approval—judges like Amy Coney Barrett, Sarah Pitlyk, and James C. Ho, just to name a few. As the nomination process moves forward this week, rest assured that First Liberty is doing everything in our power to ensure that the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice will be a committed defender of your religious liberty.
We’ll keep you up to date on the latest developments as we approach confirmation, so stay tuned!
Gratefully,
Kelly
