Last week, we launched a petition alongside other progressive political leaders. Together, we made the call to abolish ICE after the news broke around forced hysterectomies being performed on detained immigrants in an ICE-operated private prison. Since we put this call out into the world just last Thursday — four days ago! — over 83,000 folks added their names to ours.

The response to this petition has been overwhelming, and it's clear why: from its inception, ICE has been used to terrorize immigrant communities in our country. The organization regularly violates human rights — from widespread sexual assault, neglect of children, and gross misconduct around COVID-19 — and this has only gotten worse with time. ICE cannot be reformed.

We're hoping to collect at least 100,000 signatures on our petition to abolish ICE. If you haven't done so already, will you add your name?

In this pivotal election year, we can't afford to waste a single moment. Let's do everything to call attention to the horrific human rights violations that ICE has continuously committed whenever we can — and work to vote lawmakers into office that will work with us to abolish it forever.
