My heart is heavy, John. You might feel the same.
On Friday, we lost Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a visionary American hero who pushed boundaries, broke barriers and represented the best of this country's principles. Her contributions to this nation's history are immeasurable - and I know she meant so much to so many.
Her fight for equal rights, representation and true equality under the law was a righteous fight that changed the lives of every woman in this country. And for that, I mourn her death.
Justice Ginsburg understood that eliminating hate, discrimination and senseless division was how each one of us could dream the American dream. She fought for civil rights, challenged each one of us to live with respect and dignity, and changed the course of this nation's history.
She was a legend, and she'll forever be remembered for the contributions she's made to all of us.
Right now, I pray for her family, loved ones and supporters. I'm so grateful for everything she's given to us: hope, dignity, equality and an unwavering respect for our Constitution. Justice Ginsburg's life is a testament to the fact that we can create change and better those around us.
You might feel lost. You might feel hopeless. But I'm telling you now: We will overcome. We will fight for justice and equality. And we will stand for those who need a voice in this moment.
Thank you for fighting for the righteous truth under the law with me.
Michelle
