In the wake of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing on Friday, this nation is poorer. For all of her 87 years, Justice Ginsburg never shied away from the battles that needed to be fought—on the contrary, she went looking for them.
Justice Ginsburg said shortly before she passed away, “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.” It is on all of us to see her wish through with a matched fervor. Please join us in flooding the Senate with calls today.
Her loss is all the more crushing because of where we find ourselves today: fighting against those who have ambition without ideals, cunning without wisdom, and a will to power utterly lacking in compassion.
That was made obvious when, less than an hour after her death was announced, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell were gleefully promising a quick replacement. A replacement who will undermine all that Ruth Bader Ginsburg stood for and accomplished. A replacement who will roll back health care access, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ equality, environmental protections, and so much more.
We will not allow this to happen. Take two minutes right now to call your senators and demand that they wait until after our next president is inaugurated to confirm the next Supreme Court justice.
Together, we will continue this fight while holding Justice Ginsburg’s memory in our hearts.
