This has been a week.

First, we lost Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a champion for the rights of women and a stalwart defender for all treated unequally under the law. A teacher-turned-American icon, she delivered fiery defenses of reproductive justice, voting rights for all, and our democracy. She leaves behind an unmatched legacy and a mandate for us all to continue these fights in her honor.

Then, yesterday, Jahana tested positive for COVID-19 – and quickly thereafter became symptomatic. It is a staunch reminder of how far we still need go to control this pandemic and the importance of developing a national testing strategy.

But, here at Team Hayes, we know that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Adversity only makes us want to work harder. And that’s what we are doing. Focus on what you can control, right? For us, that means doubling down on getting our message out!

Since Jahana now has to lock down even more than before and focus on getting healthy, we have to ramp up the rest of our game to get her word out virtually. We’re hiring more field staff, ordering more signs, buying more media, sending more postcards, and making more phone calls. Each of these actions costs money.
