Hi folks,
I am heartbroken by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing.
I’m mourning the loss of a champion for women’s equality, for the rights of LGBTQ Americans, and for justice under the law no matter the color of your skin or the place of your birth. I am scared for what this means for America, and I know that many of you feel the same way.
But we must channel this heartbreak and this fear into action, because the stakes in November’s elections just got that much higher.
Our nation is on the line. This is the fight of our lives.
That’s why it’s so important to elect women up and down the ballot. Chip in whatever you can to help our 21 endorsed women running for office here in Georgia today.
I’ve been encouraged to see so many Americans step up to donate to Joe Biden and Democratic Senate candidates.
Those are races we have to win. But this November, Democrats have to win everywhere -- down-ballot races, too.
You see, presidents might appoint Supreme Court justices, and the Senate may confirm them, but legislators at the state and local level can protect reproductive rights and expand health care in their areas, and the bad laws that eventually go before SCOTUS start in state legislatures.
Laws that are meant to roll back voting rights, endanger reproductive choice, dismantle the Affordable Care Act, and further the aims of white supremacy get written by politicians in places like the Georgia Assembly.
That’s why we
have to flip the legislature in November, team -- it’s why we
have to elect OAD’s endorsed candidates.
So I’m asking personally: Please donate what you can to Our American Dreams right now to help our 21 candidates win their down-ballot races here in Georgia. This is how we fight back.
The stakes are too high to lose.
Thank you,
Sarah Riggs Amico
