One year ago this week, Republicans rammed Brett Kavanaugh through a series of sham Senate confirmation hearings. They doubled down on their fraudulent and hostile takeover of the Supreme Court — first stealing a seat for Neil Gorsuch, then refusing to do a real investigation into the serious questions that have surrounded Kavanaugh’s professional and personal conduct for decades. As citizens, we cannot and will not let an illegitimate justice remain on the Court without a fight.

Because the Senate’s confirmation hearing was a sham, we’re demanding that Congress finally investigate Kavanaugh and hold him accountable. House Democrats have already taken the first step by requesting previously hidden documents from the National Archives — join us and ask them to take the next step by releasing those records to the public and launching a comprehensive investigation.

We’re serious about this — Democrats control the House of Representatives, which has the power and responsibility to conduct an investigation into the ethics complaints filed against Kavanaugh. We all know that Republicans wouldn’t sit by if the situation was reversed, so it’s time for House Democrats to:

• Release Kavanaugh’s records from his years in the Bush White House as soon as possible
• Demand that the FBI conduct a thorough and complete investigation into the multiple sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh
• Launch an investigation so the public gets answers about Kavanaugh’s questionable finances and unexplained debts
• Insist that Kavanaugh answer for the dozens of times that he lied under oath during his confirmation hearings

Kavanaugh was the most unpopular Supreme Court nominee in more than 35 years, but Republicans rushed to confirm him anyway. Unless House Democrats take the next step and launch an investigation, Kavanaugh could be on the bench for 40 years, rolling back civil rights and liberties and ruling in favor of the corporate interests who propelled him onto the Court in the first place.
