Suicide Prevention Month Events
This month, we’ve shared many ways that people in communities everywhere can #KeepGoing by supporting each other in safeguarding our mental health. These actions will help to save lives in the fight to stop suicide. There’s still one week left, and more opportunities for you to join the conversation. Here are some of this week’s events:

September 22 – CVS Healthline: Prioritizing Mental Health Care and Suicide Prevention panel discussion, in partnership with CVS Health/Aetna, will feature AFSP’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Christine Moutier and other guests for a conversation about suicide prevention and the growing rates of suicide across America, including among young people and the Black community. Check out our social media accounts on 9/22 to view the panel conversation.
September 22 – K-12 Suicide Prevention Policies for Back to School webinar via Zoom at 3 p.m. ET with AFSP leaders and Dr. Peter Faustino, a school psychologist. Viewers will learn about the federal and state policies and legislation that can prevent suicide and how to support positive mental health in the K-12 school setting. September 23 – Entercom, a leading media and entertainment company and one of the largest radio broadcasters in the U.S., will broadcast the fourth annual“I’m Listening,”
<[link removed]> a live national program that brings together artists, athletes, Dr. Moutier, and other guests to raise awareness about mental health. The two-hour special will air nationwide and, for the first time, in primetime at 6 p.m. (your local time), Wednesday, September 23 across more than230 Entercom stations

September 24 – WebMD Medical Editor Dr. Neha Pathak joins Dr. Moutier for an Instagram Live conversation on recognizing the signs of suicide and what to do if someone is exhibiting those signs. Tune in to watch at 3 p.m. ET @AFSPnational on Instagram.
September 24 – Universal Music Group will host a special Semicolon Sessions Roundtable with musical artists and Dr. Moutier for National Hispanic Heritage Month and a discussion of mental health in the Hispanic and Latinx communities. Please check @AFSPnational for details on time and virtual location.
September 25 – For our Seize the Awkward campaign in partnership with the Ad Council and The Jed Foundation, AFSP will lead an Instagram Story Expert Q&A with Dr. Moutier answering questions from young adults on mental health. Tune in on @SeizetheAwkward on Instagram.
September 25 – Kenneth Cole’s Mental Health Coalition and AFSP, a founding member, team up to host with Vice President of Mission Engagement, Dr. Doreen Marshall for a conversation to discuss the warning signs for suicide, and what people can do if they think someone is at risk. Tune in at 1 p.m. ET on Instagram Live @AFSPnational
