Arizona’s Senate race just became the most consequential in the country.
Here’s why: Democrat Mark Kelly is challenging GOP Senator Martha McSally in a special election for Arizona’s Senate seat. That means that if Mark Kelly wins [[link removed]] , he could be seated in the Senate as early as November 30—six weeks before the other election winners are sworn in.
If Mitch McConnell tries to jam through a far-right Supreme Court justice in the post-election “lame duck” session, Mark Kelly could cast the deciding vote to defeat Trump’s nominee.
