Donald Trump is using fear tactics and threats of violence to compel an increasingly radical base. He just warned his supporters: “If I don’t win, America’s suburbs will be OVERRUN with low income projects, anarchists, agitators...and looters.”
Meanwhile Mike Pence is running his own 2020 civil war campaign, telling Americans they “won’t be safe in Biden’s America,” and that “Trump has been fighting for you and now it’s our turn to fight for him.”
Both candidates are desperately pushing a law and order message despite growing national unrest over their failure to protect American lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s worst economic crisis in a hundred years, and the administration’s failure to take concrete actions against racial injustice.
And it’s working. A recent CNN poll found that approval ratings for national protests have dropped by more than 10% since June, despite evidence that the majority of protests have been peaceful. And now The Hill is warning that silent Trump voters missed by national polling could give Trump the election. We can’t let Trump scare Americans into voting for him, but that’s exactly what he’s doing -- and he’s getting away with it.
With less than two months to go before the election, we need to know where YOU stand:
