When it's time to work hard, Canadians are ready to roll up their sleeves, friend.
It’s one of the things that makes me proud to be Canadian. And our Liberal team has been working hard to grow an economy that works for everyone – where every Canadian has a fair chance to succeed.
Since 2015, Canadians have created more than 1 million new jobs, unemployment has fallen to a 40-year low, and more than 825,000 Canadians have lifted themselves out of poverty. With lower taxes for 9 million middle class families and the Canada Child Benefit providing more money to 9 out of 10 families, a typical middle class family of four is now $2,000 better off every year.
We’re investing in communities with new infrastructure that creates new jobs and makes life better for families, including new affordable housing, and better transit, roads, and bridges. We lowered taxes for small businesses, so they can continue to be the engine of our growing economy. And our Liberal government has stood up for Canadian workers on the global stage, including by securing progressive new free trade agreements that create and protect good middle class jobs across Canada.
But here’s the thing, friend. There’s much more to do, and the election campaign is set to kick off very soon. Andrew Scheer and his Conservatives are planning to roll back our progress – which would hurt our economy, cut vital services that Canadians families rely on, and take us back to the Harper years when the middle class was falling behind. We need to keep moving forward – and that’s why we want to hear from you today.
