Dear Friend,
Two years ago, the Trump administration announced its plan to throw hundreds of thousands of immigrant young people into uncertainty by ending Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. We knew back then -- and we know now -- that Trump's actions were wrong and would irreparably harm our communities. So, we immediately joined forces with immigrant youth leaders and our legal partners to take Trump to court.
We quickly found that we were not alone. People and organizations across all sectors of American public life have spoken out and fought back against Trump's cruel and unlawful attack on immigrant youth and his attempts to use their futures as a bargaining chip. Thanks to our collective efforts, multiple courts have partially blocked Trump's plan. DACA continues to be an option for eligible immigrant youth who were previously approved for DACA protections.
As we continue to defend DACA before the Supreme Court this fall, it is as important as ever that everyone stays informed and active. If you have or have had DACA, find out whether submitting a renewal application is right for you at this time. We have a list of frequently asked questions [[link removed]] and a renewal calculator [[link removed]] on NILC's website that may help.
The biggest factor affecting a person's ability to apply for DACA is the cost. So, if you're not a DACA recipient and want to help, consider donating to help cover DACA renewal fees and make the process affordable to more people. >>> [link removed]
We've come a long way in over a decade of fighting to ensure that immigrant youth can continue to live their lives and contribute fully in their communities. There's much more work to do, and we're honored to be in this fight alongside you.
Thank you,
Ignacia Rodriguez Kmec
Staff Attorney
