Good morning –
Last week we launched the Texas Scorecard Journalism Fellowship – a comprehensive fellowship program designed for conservative Texans under the age of 25 with an interest in public policy, effective civic engagement, political accountability, and Texas history.
Maybe you know someone eligible and qualified? If so, pass today’s Texas Minute on to them!

Among our values is a belief in thinking and acting systemically and generationally. It is not enough to be successful today; we must be working to ensure the next generation is equipped to build on our heritage of self-governance. This paid fellowship program is one way we are living out that mission.
Through news reporting and investigative journalism, Texas Scorecard [[link removed]] exists to disrupt statism and reconstitute self-governance by changing the Capitol-centric political and lobby culture so citizens can impose their agendas on politicians. While the mainstream media works against self-governance and in league with the establishment lobby culture, our Journalism Fellowship is focused on developing individuals willing to challenge the status quo.
The fellowship’s goal is to assist the fellows in becoming changemakers in their communities and top-tier recruits for organizations looking to hold state and local officials accountable.
At the end of the fellowship, participants should be equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively and meaningfully communicate in multiple media formats, and understand how citizens can impact the public policy process. We are now accepting applications [[link removed]] through Oct. 15. The program begins on December 14, and runs through the end of May. Fellows will be deeply involved in covering the 2021 legislative session, interacting with conservative leaders, and sharpening their skills in the fight for liberty.
Fellows will work four days a week alongside Brandon Waltens, myself, and other members of our senior staff to research and develop content for Texas Scorecard. They will be expected to write and develop their own content under the mentorship of senior staff, in addition to assisting other staff members with research or additional content.
The fifth day of the week will feature seminars where fellows will be taught the skills and knowledge they need to be effective communicators of, and participants in, the public policy process.
The fellowship is based in our Central Texas office; there is no “remote” or “virtual” component to the program.
Unlike many such programs, individuals do not need to be enrolled in a college or university to participate. The Texas Scorecard Journalism Fellowship [[link removed]] is designed to identify, equip, and train young Texans to be effective communicators to the citizens of Texas. To this end, applicants need only demonstrate a commitment to our Core Values, to foundational conservative principles, strong character, and a committed work ethic in order to be competitive.
And, yes, non-Texans are welcome to apply [[link removed]]!
The fellowship details and a “F.A.Q.” [[link removed]] is available on our website. We also have two job openings, which you can find on our Opportunities [[link removed]] page. This is where we will post information about paid and volunteer opportunities with Texas Scorecard and ScorecardMedia. Number of the Day

Number of days until the General Election!

Quote-Unquote
“Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”
– Ronald Reagan
