New Judicial Nominee Report: Steven Menashi Today, Alliance for Justice released a report on the record of Steven Menashi, who is up for a lifetime seat on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Menashi's record demonstrates a contempt for women, sexual assault survivors, LGBTQ people, students, and people of color, both in his early writings and his actions as Betsy Devos's right-hand man at the Department of Education. He has made a career of stripping away critical rights and legal protections, and in many cases his views and policies have been repudiated by federal judges. AFJ President Nan Aron said, "Menashi’s writings and record are completely disqualifying for anyone seeking a lifetime seat on the federal bench.
