On Tuesday, the Pentagon released a statement announcing they would divert $3.6 billion in military funds for Trump's border wall. To do this, Defense Secretary Mark Esper defunded 127 military projects around the world and allowed Trump to spend billions of taxpayer dollars without having to go through Congress.

It’s a reminder that elections have consequences -- but it’s more than that.

It’s a reminder that Trump has a blatant disregard for things like “separation of powers” and “power of the purse.” Without federal courts blocking this move and without Congress holding him accountable, this sets a dangerous precedent for what Trump -- and other presidents after him -- can do.

It’s a reminder that we need to do everything we can to keep the House, flip the Senate, and win the White House in 2020. It should recommit us to the fight to get America back on track by electing pragmatic progressives across the country.
