On Friday, Supreme Court Justice and revered national icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away.

There are no words to adequately express the pain of this loss. Justice Bader Ginsburg's commitment to true equality as well as her tireless safeguarding of our Constitution has set an extraordinary example for all public servants -- one that I deeply admire.

I'm eternally grateful for her tenacity and determination to fight for and advance the rights of all people and end gender discrimination. She helped drive the nation into the 21st century and will continue to be a role model for my kids, our communities, and certainly myself.

We know the battle for the future of the Supreme Court is already underway. It will be critical for each of us to do our part to make sure her final wish -- "that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed" -- is honored.

It will be hard, but Justice Ginsburg showed us how to face the hardest battles of all -- with courage, determination, and a relentless optimism.

It is that same spirit of optimism that drove me to run for Congress. And now, more than ever, we know we need to elect leaders who share Justice Ginsburg's values of equality and justice. Please pitch in $5 -- or whatever you can afford -- if you share those values too.
