Joe Biden still has a narrow lead on Donald Trump in Florida, arguably the biggest battleground state this election. The latest polls from the state compiled by Real Clear Politics show Biden's new 1.6-point advantage is nearly 5 points narrower than it was a month ago -- a trend similar to Biden's narrowing national lead.

This is cause for alarm. Trump is gaining on Biden with less than two months left until Election Day, and there is still a long list of possible October surprises -- like Trump announcing a COVID vaccine or a potential change in jobs numbers -- that could boost the president's odds even further.

We need to drum up enthusiasm for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and we need to do it now -- before these poll numbers get any worse.
