John,
If you’re still reeling from last week’s news that dozens of women in ICE custody had their wombs or reproductive organs removed without their consent, you’re not alone. Brave whistleblower Dawn Wooten’s shocking reports have shaken us all to the core.
As horrific as these revelations are, it’s important to recognize that they’re part of a long pattern of neglect and abuse that our immigration officials have gotten away with for years. Now, more than ever, we must take action to put an end to this cruelty. It’s time for all of us to be like Dawn and fight for justice.
This week, #FamiliesBelongTogether vigils are being held across the country—and even online. Can we count you in?

Here’s the plan: A wave of vigils all across the country in neighborhoods, towns, cities, and even online.
Immigrants are dehumanized every day in detention centers all across the country. Together, we will show our care and compassion, putting humanity before cruelty. It’s a simple act—communities coming together and placing childrens’ toys in front of a detention center or neighbors gathering stuffed animals in a park (or online!).
With countless vigils across the country, we will make our voices heard. We will show we are a nation that believes families belong together, safe, and free. Be a part of the movement to free the families, and join (or host!) a vigil today.
Sign up now to attend a vigil in your area this week. City by city, town by town, let’s build a wave of solidarity and support for justice and dignity for all women, children and families.
See you in the streets (or online!),
Cheska Perez
