We're all still mourning the passing of a giant in American history, a champion for justice, and a trailblazer for gender equality.
It is impossibly heartbreaking to lose Justice Ginsburg as so many of us celebrate the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, a new year, but I'm reminded of a Hebrew phrase:
יהי זכרה מהפכה
May her memory be a revolution.
Her dying wish was that her seat not be filled until we seat a new president. I believe that the American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.
That is my solemn commitment, to the American people and to her legacy.
May her memory be a revolution. May we rise to that revolution's call.
