The Center for Biological Diversity is hosting a free virtual Food Justice Film Festival from Sept. 24-27. Each film explores the links between environmental justice, climate change, food insecurity and white supremacy. These films highlight the ways our food system harms communities and strains our planet.

The Food Justice Film Festival is free and open to the public. Sign up now to receive a link unlocking access to each film for 24 hours on the day of its screening.

Accompanying each film is a panel of activists, organizers and directors discussing topics including urban gardens, farmworkers' rights and plant-based foods. You'll see:

• Climate-justice advocate Jacqui Patterson from the NAACP
• Kat Lopez of Veggie Mijas
• Sanjay Rawal, director of "Gather"
• Jasmine Leyva, director of "The Invisible Vegan"
• lauren Ornelas of the Food Empowerment Project
• Indigenous activists Twila Cassadore from the San Carlos Apache tribe and Sammy Gensaw of the Yurok tribe and director of the Ancestral Guard

Here's the full schedule for the Food Justice Film Festival:

"Gather" — Sept. 24: Documents the growing movement among Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through traditional foodways.

"The Invisible Vegan" — Sept. 25: Explores the problem of access to healthy food in African-American communities and highlights the possibilities enabled by plant-based foods.

"Dolores" — Sept. 26: A portrait of farmworkers-rights activist Dolores Huerta, one of the most important civil-rights leaders of the 20th century.

"Urban Roots" — Sept. 27: Follows the urban-farming movement in Detroit and other collapsed industrial towns. An inspiring film that shows the need to forge a sustainable food system.
