Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg represented all of the values we hold close to our hearts. She believed in equality and freedom, and fought her entire life to make them a reality for ALL Americans.

As one of only eight women in a class of 500 law students at Harvard, she was chastised for taking the spot of qualified men. She went on to graduate first in her class, while at the same time raising her 4-year-old daughter. She struggled to find work in a man’s profession, but she persisted and became the first female tenured professor at Columbia University. She saw gender discrimination in her own life and used her knowledge to work against it, successfully arguing revolutionary cases in the Supreme Court and ultimately becoming the second woman ever to serve as a Supreme Court Justice. RBG pushed back against powerful forces that sought to silence her voice and her resilience brought us advancements that have given hope to a generation.

Her passing is a blow to all of us. But this is a time to come together and work to keep her dream alive. We should build upon her legacy and continue to fight for real lasting change in this country.
