Friend -- we are all grieving the loss of an icon today. As A.G. Holder said last night:

"RBG was a seminal legal figure. If she never served a day on the Court she would still have been considered a giant. Ruth Bader Ginsburg shaped the law and in doing so changed this nation. Hers was a consequential life well led. We are all in her debt."

I couldn't agree more. As a woman, as a lawyer, and as a mother, I feel so deeply in debt to Justice Ginsburg for continuously and unapologetically pushing against an unfair status quo to shatter barriers and build a more just America.

Indeed, all of us at NDRC will be forever grateful that Justice Ginsburg dedicated her life's work to fighting for equal rights and justice for all Americans. She epitomized a heartfelt commitment to public service, and to the Constitution. She was a true trailblazer who believed deeply in the promises this nation holds. A.G. Holder and our entire team believe that if we work together, we can honor RBG's legacy and protect our democracy.

Justice Ginsburg also taught us a thing or two about perseverance, and we will do our best to follow her lead: to work tirelessly to protect the fundamental right to vote, to challenge discrimination in all forms, and to always, always speak truth to power. This is how we will honor her.

As we mourn Justice Ginsburg, we celebrate the life she lived and recommit ourselves to the fight for equal rights for all. We hope you'll join us in spending time this weekend reflecting on the life of an icon, and what we all can do to celebrate and honor her legacy.
