Friend, I'm heartbroken by the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

She was a champion of justice. A trailblazer. Inspiration and aspiration for generations of women and girls. She was fierceness personified.

Last night was the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year. It is said that those who die on that holy day are righteous, as the world needed them for the entire year. It was certainly a fitting departure for the Justice who’s righteousness advanced a nation toward justice and equality for all.

I wish that we could simply reflect on her incredible legacy and remember what she meant to all of us. But the hard truth is, we could soon see a 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court. Roe v. Wade, the Affordable Care Act, and so much more could be overturned.

As a woman, as someone with a pre-existing condition, and as the sister of a brother with cognitive disabilities, I am afraid of what a conservative-dominated court may do. And so I am strengthened in my resolve to fight harder than ever before for our values.

Justice Ginsburg championed so many of our fundamental rights, and helped us achieve remarkable progress. With those rights and progress now on the line, it's absolutely critical that the next Congress is full of champions for justice, opportunity, and equality.

I'm running against an anti-choice incumbent who has said that he would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and has voted to defund Planned Parenthood five times. The contrast and the stakes could not be more clear. Our votes matter.

May Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s memory be a blessing. And may her memory be a revolution.

-Dana
