Friend,

I join Americans across the country in mourning a great loss.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was extraordinary. She was a pioneer for equality, a champion of our laws and the people they protect, and a wonderful example of faith and family.

When I think of her years on the court, I think of her mastery of constructive dissent. She showed us that disagreements do not have to tear us apart -- they can make us stronger and move us forward towards a fairer, more just, more equal country.

Her life is a testament to the power of building friendships with those you disagree with and having better debates.

I am grateful for the example she set for all of us -- as a leader, a brilliant legal mind, and a woman who broke barriers and made so much possible for those who came after her, like my own smart and strong daughter.

There will never be another Ruth Bader Ginsburg. But as we grieve this immense loss, we must also resolve to carry her legacy forward. As always, she said it best: "Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you."

We need to fight -- for Ruth and for all leaders who treat their opponents with dignity.

Thank you,

-Ben
