Does this seem like another low point in our nation's history?

Friends-

I am with you on the passing of the Notorious RBG. My inbox has blown up since last night from many of you asking "Winn, what can I do?" "What do you need?" I couldn't sleep so my mind does what it does best: stews on it. So, here are the 3 things that are effective and why:

1- Get 3 people to register to vote: we are preaching to the choir when we say "You best VOTE" amongst ourselves. We all are. But be EXTRA and get 3 others to register to vote. We have ONLINE voter registration now. https://nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration.shtml

2- Share https://votebymailnj.org to spread FACTS on voting. We get tens of thousands of hits, and thousands of shares, but more is needed to educate. There are social share icons on the website. The rates of ballot rejections are HIGHER: they went from less than 0.01% to almost 3%. Look at your county and see why and share. https://votebymailnj.org/vbm-hub-for-voters/top-reasons-ballots-get-rejected/

3- DONATE to us. Yes, us. WE got THREE voting laws in NJ this year. NO OTHER ORG has done it for NJ voters. I am good with vote by mail but I am piss-poor at fundraising: after 4 years, I'm still an unpaid volunteer. So donate to a New Jersey nonprofit doing voting work here in NJ: Action Together New Jersey!! That's US! Become an ATNJ Advocate and donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/atnjadvocates

We do voting and have focused on Vote By Mail educating folks on the convenience and when the pandemic hit, I worked with the Governor's front office, the Speaker's, and members of the state Senate and Assembly to get these bills. I still have drafts starting from last October. Like those secure ballot drop boxes? I wrote it on the website! Then ensured that they would be in 45 days before Election Day. So donate to us! We will work to get 1 secure ballot drop box per town for future elections. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/atnjadvocates

Want to know:

  • Does our voter database get cleaned up e.g. voters who moved or passed away?
  • Why can't we vote in person using a voting machine?
  • Do county election officials try to reject the ballots?
  • Can we trust USPS?

Submit your questions and tune in!

Join in a lunchtime webinar. Please note that this webinar is NONPARTISAN and all questions should pertain to the process of voting for this November Election. We want this to be interactive with the audience -- to be able to ask questions directly -- and not just talked at. So, to keep the webinar from being "Zoom-bombed," folks who indicate below that they are able to join us live and whose questions are picked, will be emailed and invited to be "in the room" to ask their question LIVE directly to the co-hosts or our guests: Dr. Lauren Zyriek Enriquez, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Secretary of State and Bob Giles, Director of the Division of Elections.

The webinar will be broadcast live, widely, and publicly for all. We will also take questions live from Chat and Q&A features from the public. However, only for cyber security reasons, only pre-screened guests will be able to access and ask live questions directly.   Thank you!
