John,
Two years ago today, Trump announced an unprecedented move to end the
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, jeopardizing the
livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the United
States as children.
DACA gives millions of young people the chance to live, work, and study in
the country they call home, without fearing deportation -- until Trump
decided it was his mission to take away that peace of mind.
So far, Trump has been unsuccessful at overturning DACA in the courts. But
now the right-leaning Supreme Court -- with judges hand-picked by Trump --
has decided to take up the case and determine whether Trump can end DACA
by next year.
It’s just plain cruel, John. Hundreds of thousands of
immigrants are living in the shadows, afraid of being a victim in Trump’s
next ICE raid. They won’t go to hospitals. They won’t apply for public
benefits they need like food stamps or Medicaid. They pay taxes and
contribute to our economy, but Republicans still treat immigrants like
second-class citizens in our communities and scapegoats for racist
policies nationwide.
From trying to gut DACA to his useless border wall to immigrant
concentration camp detention centers, Trump’s racism -- and the Republican
Party -- will stop at nothing to push forward his anti-immigrant fear
mongering.
The best way you can stop the GOP from harming vulnerable communities is
by helping DFA elect bold, progressive leaders who will fight back against
Republican xenophobia and stand up for immigrant rights. So often we feel
powerless to stop Trump, but we aren’t. We can do it by winning at the
ballot box in 2019 and again in 2020. Will you make a
$5 or more
