Friend, Protecting health care, reproductive choice, and the environment, standing up for our civil rights and labor unions— Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a powerful voice on so many issues that touch the lives of American families. And she was a personal hero to me. Last night we celebrated RBG’s life as a fighter. Today we continue that legacy by fighting for the future of the Supreme Court. As of right now, that future is unclear. And the stakes could not be higher. Mitch McConnell wants to ram through Donald Trump’s right-wing nominee as fast as he can. Mitch’s new found urgency is a 180 degree change. In 2016, he never let the Senate vote on President Obama’s nominee. At the time, he argued “the American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice.” I don't say it much, but I agree with Mitch McConnell (at least the 2106 version of him). Voters should decide this vacancy with their votes in November. The hypocrisy is breathtaking. The Supreme Court isn’t a political football. The Court’s decisions impact the lives of every single American. That’s especially true when it comes to health care. This November, the Court will hear a Donald Trump backed case that could overturn the Affordable Care Act. In the middle of a Pandemic! So this fight matters — and what we do between now and Election Day REALLY matters. Thank you, Debbie
