This week, the United Nations released a report arguing that US support for Saudi Arabia in Yemen rises to the level of complicity in war crimes. The U.N. Human Rights Council is calling for more accountability from all parties involved — including us.

The world is watching us, and waiting for real leadership — for the courage to take a stand, to refuse to dismiss the atrocities of an ally, and to do the right thing. By this report, it’s clear that Saudi Arabia has no intention of limiting their human rights abuses.

The Human Rights Council also found that the Saudi internal investigations — a process that is supposed to help prevent tragedies from happening again — aren’t being taken seriously. With that reality, we cannot in good conscience continue to abet this bloodshed.
