Dear John,

Last night was devastating. We lost a true lioness of the law, a pioneer for women, and someone who did good for her entire life, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

When she began her career, she was shunned from courtrooms solely because she was a woman. But she persisted, and blazed a trail for millions of women and others who had been excluded or oppressed.

RBG's legacy is long, because every single day, she made a difference.

But within hours of her passing, Mitch McConnell was already plotting to stack the court: "Trump's nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate."

You might remember in 2016, Mitch McConnell shamefully refused to even consider a supremely qualified Supreme Court nominee from President Obama for almost a year, saying instead that the "American people should have a voice in the selection" of the next Justice.
