PFAW Member, We're still reeling from the news of Justice Ginsburg’s passing. But we’re ready to fight like never before, inspired and resolute in our mission to honor her legacy and her dying wish that she "not be replaced until a new president is installed." Trump is saying he’ll name a nominee to fill Justice’s Ginsburg’s seat soon. Mitch McConnell announced, right on the heels of the news of RBG’s death, that he’s committed to breaking all precedent and rushing a vote on Trump’s pick. We’re not going to let them steal this seat. Our campaign is already underway and we’re hosting an important tele-townhall briefing call for members this Monday at 7:00pm Eastern Time (6 Central / 5 Mountain / 4 Pacific). Please join us for this important campaign kickoff call to learn about the stakes, the process, and, with just over 6 weeks until Election Day, our plan to save RBG’s seat and let the PEOPLE decide the president who should nominate her successor. Thank you for all you do. -- Ben Betz, Digital & Organizing P.S. I included PFAW President Ben Jealous’s message to members on RBG’s passing below in case you missed it. PFAW Member, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, American hero, has passed at the age of 87. According to NPR, just days before her death, she dictated the following statement to her granddaughter: "My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed." As you know, the ONLY just course for the president and the U.S. Senate at this point is to wait until after the election and the swearing in of our new president, if we have one, to consider any new nominee for Justice Ginsburg’s Supreme Court seat. The People should decide who replaces this giant presence on the Court. I know you’ll join us in mourning the loss of Justice Ginsburg, whose spirit, intellect, patriotism, and commitment to constitutional values have left an indelible and profound mark on not only the Court but the entire country. We will be in touch in the coming days with more about what this means for the Supreme Court, the election, and the future of the American Way. And while we mourn, know that Mitch McConnell has already put out a statement saying, “President Trump’s nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.” We will NOT let that happen – the People need to and will be heard. Thank you for standing with PFAW and for allowing PFAW to stand by you in these hard times. -- Ben Jealous, President
