Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's passing yesterday is devastating. The mourning and loss we feel is immeasurable.

The lessons and fight Justice Ginsburg taught and instilled in us will never be forgotten. But we cannot lose hope or be complacent because we know that Republicans won’t slow down for a minute.

Senator Mitch McConnell released a statement mere hours after her death saying “Trump's nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate." Trump has already tweeted that he has an obligation to fill her seat without delay.

Apparently, McConnell forgot his own words in 2016 when he said that the “American people should have a voice in the selection” of the next Justice and shamefully refused to take up President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee almost a year before the election.

We must hold McConnell and the Republican Senate accountable for their hypocrisy. We are in a fight for the fundamentals of our country – our democracy is at stake.
