Last night, we grieved. Today, we fight.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg understood that the fight for equality is not over, and she knew that the long arc of history bends toward justice only when the people stand up for what is right.

She inspired generations of women in the law and in public life. She broke through barriers. She was an icon even before she joined the Court.

Now, with her passing, the Court is left with a void -- one that Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell will seek to fill before November's presidential election is decided, ignoring the precedent McConnell himself set four years ago. We know that they will try.

Despite her own final wish that the next president appoint her successor, Trump and McConnell will seek to replace Justice Ginsburg with a radical conservative who will vote to strike down Roe, overturn the Affordable Care Act, and enshrine white supremacy into the fabric of our nation in every way possible.

The consequences of this Supreme Court vacancy are that high. We are in the fight of our lives, and this is the moment when the revolution must win -- in Ruth Bader Ginsburg's name.

We will fight like hell to honor her final wish, but we are prepared for the reality that McConnell, Trump, and their allies like Mike Garcia will try to push a nominee through before Election Day.

National Republicans have proven again and again that their only concern is rolling back the rights of women, LGBTQ Americans, people of color, and immigrants, and they will do whatever they have to to accomplish that goal.
