Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a Supreme Court Justice and a tireless advocate for justice and equality, represented the very best of us.
A woman who graduated top of her class in Law School, faced workplace discrimination because of her gender, fought for years against social injustice. And in 1993, she became just the second woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court. In her time as a Justice, she fiercely advocated to protect the basic freedoms of Americans whose rights were being challenged. She made it her life’s mission to fight for equality and justice for women, working class citizens, LGBTQ+ individuals, and countless others.
We owe it to her to continue that fight. Justice Ginsburg said it best:
“Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time”.
We may not know everything that lies ahead, but we can honor Justice Ginsburg’s legacy by doing our part and taking the next step towards change.
With the election nearly on our doorstep, we have a chance to vote and decide who exactly we want to be representing us. And make no mistake, this is the most important election of our lives. Because it isn't just seats in government that are at stake. It's ideals like justice for every group of people, and equality under the law, that are being threatened in Senate and House races across the country.
And it’s those same ideals that have been missing from our district for the better part of three decades. That is something that we can no longer afford to endure.
