Welcome to another edition of my weekly newsletter. Your support is invaluable and I’m excited to update you on what my campaign has been doing over the last week. |
On Monday, I debated Cal Cunningham on WRAL and even the Charlotte Observer admitted that I got the best of my opponent. |
While we were debating, Cunningham admitted that he would have voted against the COVID-19 relief bill that supported last week. The bill includes vaccine funding, emergency loans to small businesses, additional unemployment benefits, as well as liability protections for schools and health care providers. |
In light of this revelation, my campaign released a new television ad exposing Cunningham for putting his political party over the people of North Carolina. |
Cunningham Is “Hesitant” To Take COVID-19 Vaccine |
In another stunning admission during the debate that sparked a national media firestorm, Cunningham said he would not take an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine. His comments were irresponsible. They proved that he does not have solutions to the pandemic that will allow us to get life back to normal, he just wants to politicize it for political gain. |
Cunningham’s COVID-19 vaccine “hesitancy” couldn’t be more hypocritical given that he ran ads saying North Carolinians should listen to healthcare professionals like Dr. Anthony Fauci because Fauci has said the vaccine will be safe. |
Watch our new video highlighting Cunningham’s dangerous rhetoric juxtaposed with Dr. Fauci’s confidence in an FDA-approved vaccine HERE. |
My Race Is Making National News |
As we get closer to election day, the national media is starting to take notice of our campaign. On Wednesday night, Fox News ran a substantive profile on the race in which I shared with them how North Carolinians want a Senator who will stand up to the radical left. Cal Cunningham, on the other hand, declined to participate in the story after “initially agreeing to an interview.” |
I Stand With Our Law Enforcement |
Another clear contrast during the debate was on supporting law enforcement. When I told a story of two officers who were tragically ambushed and shot in California last week, Cunningham smirked in response. It was shameful. Every day our law enforcement puts their lives on the line to protect us and unlike Cal Cunningham, I will do everything I can to thank them. That’s why I am fighting in the Senate to punish those who intentionally target law enforcement with violence. |
I will take the debate stage again next Tuesday and I’m looking forward to laying out the stark contrast between me and Cal Cunningham and reminding voters why I’m the only candidate in this race to lead our state’s economic recovery and keep our communities safe. |
I hope you all will tune in to my debate at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22 on CBS-17, Fox 46, WSPA, WAVY, WGHP, WNCT and WECT. You can also see what my team is saying about the debate by following @thomtillis and @teamtillis on twitter. |
I will continue to work hard to get North Carolina’s economy back on its feet and all of you back to work. Please continue to follow public health guidelines so we can beat this virus and continue our economic recovery. I’m looking forward to connecting with you all on the campaign trail very soon. |
Thank you for allowing me to share these updates, and God bless you! |
