Dear John,
Our nation mourns the loss of an immeasurable life.
I knew Ruth Bader Ginsburg as a friend for forty years. She was one of a kind: an extraordinary woman, a brilliant mind, and a fierce champion of civil rights whose clarity of vision and voice transformed our country.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg used her experience being discriminated against as a woman and as a mother to make our lives better. She used that experience to chip away at unjust laws so that we could all have more opportunities. She smashed every glass ceiling for herself and generations of women who followed after.
How we join together in the coming days and weeks to honor and uphold her legacy will change the course of our nation. My hope is that the United States Senate will honor her final wish and give her appointment to the next president. Together, we must all continue down the path toward justice and equality that she dedicated her life to every single day.
May her memory be a blessing to us all.
Donna
