Scientific American, the country’s longest continuously published science journal, just endorsed Joe Biden for the presidency, breaking a 175 year commitment to remain neutral -- and stating “we’d love to stay out of politics, but this president has been so anti-science that we can’t ignore it.”
Since his election, Trump has blocked stricter air pollution standards, denied the devastating effects of climate change, and ardently embraced anti-science conspiracy theories -- telling Americans, against the suggestion of his own health experts, that they could use hydroxychloroquine, bleach, and sunlight to treat the coronavirus.
Biden urged us to ask ourselves what our future could look like: “If you give a climate arsonist four more years in the White House, why would anyone be surprised if we have more of America ablaze? If you give a climate denier four more years in the White House, why would anyone be surprised when more of America is underwater?”
