Dear Friend,

Is your school district following Texas’ Ten Commandments Law? Now you can check.

Texas Values, in collaboration with Patriot Mobile, has launched the Ten Commandments Compliance Tracker (TCCT), which you can access HERE, giving Texans a public, real-time look at whether their school districts are in full compliance, partial compliance, or refusing to comply with the law.

Check Your School District

This new tool puts information directly into the hands of parents, concerned citizens, and community leaders who want to see the Ten Commandments restored to Texas classrooms.

The live tracker is a work in progress. We are continuing to verify data and update district listings as information is confirmed. Please check back regularly as we work to provide an accurate picture of compliance across Texas.

Visit TenCommandmentsTexas.com today to check your district and share the tracker with others in your community.

Recent court rulings reinforce the need for compliance

Recent Texas state-court rulings underscore that school districts cannot simply put the law on hold while litigation continues.

On August 7, a Harris County district court denied a request for a temporary restraining order seeking to block Ten Commandments displays in Houston, Spring Branch, and Cypress-Fairbanks ISDs. Although that ruling did not finally resolve the plaintiffs’ claims, the court declined to grant the requested emergency relief.

Then, on October 1, a Galveston County district court ordered Galveston ISD to display donated Ten Commandments posters within ten days. That order applies directly to the defendants in that case, but it sends a clear message about the legal consequences districts can face for continued noncompliance.

As we explain in updated legal guidance to school districts, pending litigation before the U.S. Supreme Court does not suspend the law. Districts must accept and display qualifying donated posters as required by SB 10. Texas Values will continue working to hold districts accountable and help communities advance compliance.

Update on Transgender Text and Mailer Controversy

We also want to update you on the growing transgender texts/mailer controversy across Texas. The Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT) has denied sending texts and mailers encouraging students to navigate and circumvent Texas law - including SB 12 (Parent Bill of Rights) SB 8 (Texas Women's Privacy Act).

To be clear, we are not disputing TENT's denial or suggesting they sent the texts or mailers, but there is no doubt that their "Back to School Toolkit" is linked to these text messages, and until recently, that toolkit was available for free download on TENT's website. That same website has now been replaced with a single static page disclaiming responsibility for the messaging mess.

Our concerns focus on the “Back to School Toolkit” itself, which undermines parental authority and attacks protections for girls’ privacy in school bathrooms and locker rooms. It also risks misleading students about the potential consequences of violating facility rules.

View The Archived Toolkit

For example, page 5 of TENT’s toolkit suggests that a student’s LGBT status can be withheld from parents based on possible “adverse treatment.” Page 3 suggests that students prohibited from forming a gender-and-sexuality club consider organizing with the same peers around a shared hobby or art club instead—raising concerns about efforts to work around the law’s restrictions.

Parents deserve transparency, girls deserve privacy and safety, and students deserve accurate information. The absence of an individual civil fine under the Texas Women’s Privacy Act does not eliminate consequences that may apply under school disciplinary rules or applicable local ordinances and policies.
