We have lost a giant in the history of our nation with the passing of Ruth
Bader Ginsburg. With 27 years of hard work on the Supreme Court, her
tireless dedication to the principles of equality have touched the lives
of millions of Americans – and will continue to shape our future for
generations to come.

In 1971, her work at the American Civil Liberties Union in Reed v. Reed
established a precedent for the Equal Protection Clause to be extended to
combat gender discrimination. Thanks to her victory that day,
discriminatory laws on the basis of sex fell like dominos across the
entire nation.

At her core, Ruth Bader Ginsberg centered an important truth: That
“...anything society does to make it harder for [women] to lead
flourishing lives is immoral and unconstitutional.” By force of will and
an unbending commitment to justice, she transformed the day-to-day reality
of hundreds of millions of women.

The shadow of a champion like Ruth Bader Ginsberg looms large. Her career
of casting the pivotal votes for groundbreaking gender equality cases like
United States v. Virginia and Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, and
electrifying dissents in Bush v. Gore and Shelby County v. Holder, will
shape our lives for decades to come.

Until the very end, she fought for us. She fought for a system that
emboldened dreamers – regardless of their sex, gender, racial background,
or disability-status – to live a life of aspiration, of accomplishment,
and of common respect. We owe her a debt of gratitude that may never be
fully repaid.

In these times, we must remember the wisdom Justice Ginsburg provided
regarding our progress as a society, and as humanity. The arc of the moral
universe is long, but it bends toward justice, if there is a steadfast
commitment to see the task through to completion. Today, we take on the
mantle of that steadfast commitment to justice that Justice Ginsburg
embodied each and every day.

It is heartbreaking to know that Justice Ginsburg’s final thoughts were
dominated by what would happen in her absence. But already, we’re learning
that her concerns were warranted – Republicans have no intention of
respecting her last wishes.

Now, we have to carry on that fight, together. And there’s not a moment to
rest. Senate Republicans didn’t even wait a day to announce that they
would be rapidly appointing another Trump Supreme Court appointee.
Whomever that justice is, we know one thing for a fact: They will not
share the ideals of equity and justice that Justice Ginsburg dedicated her
life to.



[ [link removed] ]They are fundamentally unfit to lead. Wrestling control of the Senate
away from their clutches is our best chance at averting this catastrophe.
So we’re asking you to take direct action right now and split a donation
between these seven competitive Senate races.

This is a sobering responsibility. Protecting the work of Justice Ginsburg
and building on the foundation that she’s left is incumbent on each and
every one of us. In this upcoming election, that’s on the ballot too.

We cannot give in to despair. Our democracy relies on us refusing to
yield, standing together, and fighting for the values that unite us.
