John —

In case you missed the big news:

WFP’s National Committee and grassroots supporters like YOU together will decide who gets our endorsement for president, and the vote will be ranked choice.

Only WFP supporters and members who are currently subscribed to either our email or text list as of September 2, 2019 will be eligible to vote. As the recipient of this email, John, that includes you! But there’s one important action you need to take right now in order to participate in next week’s vote:

Since WFP launched our endorsement process back in June, we’ve discussed the issues, debated, and heard from five candidates during Live Q&As which received over half a million views!

In those Q&A’s, together we learned that…

  • Julián Castro’s mother ran as a third party candidate herself.
  • Elizabeth Warren plans to roll back the 1994 crime bill.
  • Bill de Blasio is calling for abolishment of ICE.
  • Bernie Sanders would make it easier for workers to unionize and end right-to-work states.
  • Cory Booker will tear down the system of mass-incarceration.

It was also an exciting opportunity for our members to ask questions directly to the candidates themselves.

  • A 13-year old climate activist and WFP super volunteer phoned in from Japan to ask Bernie Sanders about the impact of the climate crisis on his generation.
  • A homeless activist who is a member of VOCAL-NY asked Bill de Blasio about his plans for housing homeless New Yorkers.
  • A minister from Camden, New Jersey asked Cory Booker to return contributions raised by controversial NJ political boss George Norcross.
  • A Native American Voters Alliance member asked Elizabeth Warren her plan for addressing the racist and derogatory ways Native Americans have been portrayed in different forums.
  • And an activist from New York Communities for Change asked Julián Castro if he would support universal rent control.

Now that we’ve heard from the candidates, it’s time to hear from you.

Will you affirm our values in order to vote in our endorsement process? You must affirm our values before tomorrow morning, September 6, 2019 at 6am ET in order to vote.

Thanks for being a part of this process,

The entire team at Working Families Party
