Dear John, As part of our ongoing voter and elections campaign, American Sustainable Business Council is pleased to offer the following updates on the upcoming election and voter information. ASBC is strongly supporting all those businesses that are encouraging their communities, employees and other stakeholders to get out the vote this November and believes that strong leadership is necessary in order to ensure a free and fair election this season. As part of our campaign, the ASBC has been taking action on a number of issues, including the ongoing activities of the United States Postal Service, as it relates to increased vote-by-mail activity this fall. Recently, the Colorado Secretary of State has sued the USPS for providing information that contradicted the state’s vote-by-email guidelines; recent communication by the USPS to voters in Colorado have led to misinformation about the electoral process. To be clear, all Coloradans will be automatically sent vote-by-mail ballots and DO NOT need to apply separately for this process. Additionally, the LA Times has recently reported the on an investigation about the performance of the USPS in California, showing that overall timeliness of mail delivery by USPS was “spotty” or “dismal”. The ASBC is concerned about these reports and will continue to keep our network informed of such developments. The ASBC is also supporting the efforts of 1worker1vote to galvanize support for the USPS from its members and all co-op worker-owners in relation to crucial USPS last mile service. Currently, the essential activities carried by the USPS are compromised by the lack of financial support, making your voice crucial to unsure the country’s universal mail service at affordable rates.
