John — Our opponent Jim Bognet just released a new ad, and it’s his biggest lie yet.

Here’s the full story: Jim Bognet was fact-checked in July for saying Matt Cartwright wanted to defund the Wilkes-Barre police department. But this correction didn’t stop our opponent from continuing to spread the lie.

And now, not only has Jim Bognet launched an ad with the false lie, but the ad also claims this lie was verified as true by PolitiFact — the exact same fact-checker who debunked the statement as false in July!

The fact-checkers wrote in the Philadelphia Inquirer: “A Bognet campaign ad claims, ‘Fact-checkers wrote that Cartwright wants to defund the police.’ We actually wrote the opposite. The statement is not accurate and makes a ridiculous claim. We rate it Pants on Fire!”

When confronted about this blatant, embarrassing lie in their ad, the Bognet campaign said: “No one cares anymore about getting fact-checked.”
