A Chinese virologist and whistleblower, Dr. Li-Meng Yan, has implicated Dr. Fauci in the coronavirus pandemic -- insinuating that Dr. Fauci and his organization, the National Institutes of Health, funded risky virus research in China that led to the creation of COVID-19.

This is one of the least credible, most offensive smears we've ever heard. But there's now a very credible threat: that the president will embrace this lie and use it to hurt Dr. Fauci's reputation -- as well as further his own political ambitions.

Time and again, Trump and his allies have proven they don't care who they hurt as long as they can hold on to their power.
