Dear friend,
Today marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah -- a cause for celebration and introspection for Jewish communities in the United States and around the world.
This occasion offers us a chance to not only give thanks for the blessings of the past year, but acknowledge our shortcomings, and combat the discriminatory, anti-Semitic rhetoric we see across the country and across the globe.
In these moments, the enduring strength of Jewish and other marginalized communities serves to remind us all of what we can -- and have -- overcome before.
We hope that in the coming year, we remember that we have the ability to do better, be better, and demand better. In times of hardship, our diversity and our differences should be a source of solidarity -- not division.
As the Jewish New Year begins, let's renew our commitment to advancing peace, justice and equality for all. To honor our country's heritage as a nation of immigrants. To protect the earth and combat the climate crisis, to safeguard women and their autonomy, to advocate for the working class, and to stand up for communities of color and LGBTQ+ individuals.
Our best wishes for a sweet, healthy and joyous new year!
